How does upside down text actually work?
It's not an image or special font — every character is replaced with a real Unicode character that happens to look like a flipped version of the original (for example "e" becomes "dz"). The string is then reversed so reading it left-to-right matches what a flipped page would look like. Because the result is plain Unicode, it works almost anywhere text works: bios, captions, comments, DMs, and most games.
Will it work on Instagram, TikTok and other apps?
Yes. The output is standard Unicode, so it's accepted by Instagram bios and captions, TikTok bios, X/Twitter, Discord, Facebook, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Telegram, and most messaging apps. A few apps that strip "fancy" characters may show squares for rare symbols, but the core letters render reliably.
Why are some letters left unchanged?
Letters like "o", "x", "s" and "z" already look the same upside down, so no swap is needed. For others (especially capitals like H, I, M, N, S, X, Z), Unicode doesn't have a flipped equivalent, so the closest reasonable match is used. The result is the most readable upside-down version of your text that's currently possible in plain text.
What’s the difference between Upside Down, Mirror and Reversed?
Upside Down rotates each letter 180° AND reverses the word order, so it reads correctly when you flip your phone. Mirror reflects each letter horizontally (like in a mirror) and reverses the order. Reversed simply turns the word backwards without flipping any letters. Use Upside Down for that classic flipped look, Mirror for a "looking-glass" effect, and Reversed for puzzles or a backwards-spelling effect.
Is the output safe to copy and paste anywhere?
Yes. The characters are part of the standard Unicode set used worldwide. There are no hidden tracking characters or formatting tricks. The text you see is exactly the text that gets copied to your clipboard.
